FAQs
What can I expect with a Routine Annual Gynae checkup?
Your gynaecologist will take a history from you to assess and address any concerns you might have. This will be followed by a thorough examination including a blood pressure check, a breast examination and a pelvic examination. This usually includes a Pap smear and a pelvic organ ultrasound. Your urine will also be tested for any signs of infection or disease.
Will my medical aid cover my visit?
This depends on your medical aid plan. If you have a savings plan with funds available, your medical aid will reimburse you according to their tariff. If you have been to this practice previously, we will submit to the medical aid on your behalf, should you have funds available. If you have a hospital plan only or your funds are depleted, you will have to pay for the consultation yourself. Familiarising yourself with your specific medical aid plan will assist you in correctly using the benefits provided to you.
Can I still have my Pap smear while I'm menstruating?
You can have your Pap smear at any time during your menstrual cycle, however the best time to do a Pap smear would be a few days after the menstrual period has ended.
Are you contracted in to any medical aids?
This practice is contracted in with the Discovery Classic Plan.
Can I get a same day appointment?
Should you need to be seen urgently, we will try our best to accommodate you as soon as possible. Should we not be able to help you immediately, we will put you on the cancellation list. If you have a life threatening emergency, you will be referred to the Emergency Centre for immediate attendance.
Do you offer financing options for major surgery?
Should you require major surgery, a payment arrangement can be discussed with the Practice's accounts department. A monthly admin fee and minimal interest will be applicable.
